Privacy Notices - Updated
We have updated our privacy notices in preparation for the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), a new data protection law that comes into force on May 25th 2018.
We will continue to hold and use your personal data responsibly, and the update will help you better understand why we collect information and how we use it. Below is a summary of the policy. For further and detailed information, please select the relevant links attached below.

How we use your medical records
- This practice handles medical records in-line with laws on data protection and confidentiality.
- We share medical records with those who are involved in providing you with care and treatment.
- In some circumstances we will also share medical records for medical research, for example to find out more about why people get ill.
- We share information when the law requires us to do so, for example, to prevent infectious diseases from spreading or to check the care being provided to you is safe.
- You have the right to be given a copy of your medical record.
- You have the right to object to your medical records being shared with those who provide you with care.
- You have the right to object to your information being used for medical research and to plan health services.

Freedom of Information
Information about the General Practioners and the practice required for disclosure under this act can be made available to the public. All requests for such information should be made to the practice manager.
Access to Records
In accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and Access to Health Records Act, patients may request to see their medical records. Such requests should be made through the practice manager and may be subject to an administration charge. No information will be released without the patient consent unless we are legally obliged to do so. (please see more information under Practice Leaflets)
Complaints
We make every effort to give the best service possible to everyone who attends our practice.
However, we are aware that things can go wrong resulting in a patient feeling that they have a genuine cause for complaint. If this is so, we would wish for the matter to be settled as quickly, and as amicably, as possible. Every complaint is dealt with as a learning opportunity for the surgery to help improve our quality of service.
To pursue a complaint please contact the practice manager who will deal with your concerns appropriately. Further written information is available regarding the complaints procedure from reception. (please see more information under Practice Leaflets)
If you feel you would just like to ask a question or raise an improvement, we would be very happy to hear from you. Some ideas raised by patients have helped us improve efficiency from a patients perspective, while helping other patients with similar problems.
Violence Policy
The NHS operate a zero tolerance policy with regard to violence and abuse. The practice has the right to remove violent patients from the list with immediate effect in order to safeguard practice staff, patients and other persons.
Violence in this context includes actual or threatened physical violence or verbal abuse which leads to fear for a person’s safety.
In this situation we will notify the patient in writing with a written warning. Should this be repeated a final warning, in writing, advising of their removal from the practice will be sent and recorded in the patient’s medical records.
We are here to help you and offer the services we have available to us. Your patience and understanding is appreciated. Removal from our practice is a final resort.
